Refurbished products are products that have been previously owned and turned back into stores for several reasons, such as first buyers remorse, production problems, or repossession. When a piece of technology or another product is refurbished, it means that the piece has been fixed of initial problems, or cleaned and set for resell. Often times refurbished products sell for a couple hundred dollars less than the original price.

This is an affordable way of buying new technology for consumers who have no problem in owning products that have been previously used. A few things that may come at a refurbished price are products like Computers, laptops, MP3 players, Ipods, Ipads, Cell phones and other technology. Here is a list of a few sites and stores that offer the best refurbished technology for the most affordable prices:

Best Buy-Best Buy is a big coöperation that sells all kinds of new technology and home appliances. Many people think that Best Buy only sells new products. Not so, on the company’s website, several refurbished products are on sale, and they will often give you a deal for shipping and handling as well.

Newegg.com- Newegg is quickly becoming a front-runner in refurbished technology sales, offering new and refurbished technology such as laptops at hundreds of dollars less than original purchase price.

Dell or any of the original computer companies-Yes, the original laptop companies will sell refurbished technology at a knock down price for those willing to buy their products.

You have spent the majority of your career working for others. Now you’ve taken the plunge to become your own boss. Congratulations! One of the first exciting steps you will most likely want to take is setting up your home office. In today’s technology-laden world, this might seem like a daunting task, but it needn’t be.

Computer Basics

What kind of computer do you need? If you travel a lot, you might want to purchase a laptop. If you need power and you don’t travel often, consider a desktop. You can find discounts on technology items on sites such as Offers.com.

Internet Options

Most individuals who work from home will find that they need some sort of Internet connection – generally satellite or cable Internet. Decide what type of modem you need, and if you want to connect more than one device to the Internet, you will most likely want to invest in a router.

Monitor Layouts

Once you get your computer set up, consider your monitor situation. Are you all right with one monitor? If you plan to do a lot of research or if you have many programs open at once, you might want to consider purchasing one or two external monitors.

The Phone Dilemma

What kind of phone do you plan to use with your business? If you plan to send and receive faxes, you want to make sure your computer does that or use an all-in-one printer.

Printer Power

Depending on your needs, buy a basic printer or a multi-purpose one.

You don’t need to go crazy purchasing all the latest technology. Start with the basics and go from there.

Refurbished computers have gotten something of a bad rap with a lot of consumers. While too many people think that a refurbished computer would only be acceptable if it were a beater that they fished out of a bargain bin, in a lot of cases these are still solid machines. While there is nothing quite like hauling home a new computer, a “new to you” rig can sometimes be just as good.

For one thing, the computers you buy used already have plenty of advantages to them. In addition to having already been inspected to ensure they function properly, these are PCs that may only be a year or two old. Since so many people only value computers that are the top of the line, sometimes you can get an incredible deal. A refurbished computer is actually better than a regular used one because a lot of times a used machine has small issues that a previous user may not consider important enough to inform you of. Because of this attention to detail, a refurb can be great.

In a lot of cases, a refurb might even have a bunch of new parts newly added. In most respects, it’s just like getting a great deal on last year’s computer and getting it brand new. Unless you’re going out for bragging rights, the odds that you’ll really care about a tiny difference in speed or space is aren’t high. If you want the prettiest toy, you need to get a brand new computer. If you want everything you’d get with a new machine without the price tag, you need a refurbished computer.

Some people have a bizarre obsession with trying to own the best of everything there is. While it is noble to do one’s best and strive toward perfection, it’s also unrealistic to try and become better through simply owning something you perceive as being better. This is why sometimes buying the latest piece of technology just isn’t worth the premium you’ll have to pay for it. Having the very best sometimes carries no discernible advantage.

For instance, consider Moore’s Law. When you buy any computer at any price range, in less than two years it’s going to be roughly half as fast as its current price would pay for. So if you’re only going to keep your computer for a year or two, you might as well just get a “beater” that’s not very quick. While this applies the best to computers, lately almost everything has a processor in it, making Moore’s Law equally applicable to almost any piece of equipment out there. If you get right down to it, after a long enough time a perfectly good computer will practically be free.

Naturally, the feeling of having something that’s extremely powerful in your hand is an experience that may be worth paying for. However, if the cost of such an experience would be less useful to you than putting that money to a solid purpose somewhere else in your life, it’s a false economy. You can always save up money later and buy a really powerful device. If you have a more pressing need today, however, you really have no excuse to go after the very best. So just buy what you really need.

Guarantees are one of the best things going in life if you’re paranoid or value security very highly. With a guarantee, you can rest assured that even if something bad happens, you can get through it and be made whole. However, there are times when a guarantee isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, such as when you can’t invoke it for some reason. A lot of guarantees fall into this category because of unnecessary rules. Would you really feel safer is there are no security systems of any kind, but just a guarantee of security?

Unfortunately a lot of people carry around insecurities from which they have a lot of trouble escaping. When it comes time to purchase a product and the cashier asks, a lot of people just surrender to the desire to have a cheap “get out free” card in case something goes wrong. If it only costs a few dollars to do so, it can be great to get a guarantee on your purchase. However, the chances of it failing are fairly slim. As well, the chances that a guarantee is going to be as effective as you’d like are also slim.

In a lot of cases trying to invoke a guarantee is all but futile. For a lot of companies, the complaint line is nearly impossible to get through to. After you finally complain, you have to negotiate a gauntlet of legalistic rules and regulations in order to receive something beneficial for your guarantee. While a large company can easily swallow the loss of one free replacement, getting that replacement might still cost you more in time than it would to just buy another of whatever you lost. When it comes to guarantees, you have to sing for your supper.

The technical world is fraught with perils for those who aren’t savvy about what to get and what to avoid. For a lot of people, the marketing message is deafening and the brightly wrapped packaging is blinding to what they’re really getting. While having a touch of joy about possessing and using something great is fine, it can go too far if you aren’t careful. This care starts out as being an informed consumer and being on top of things.

For starters, do whatever you have to do in order to shake off the limerence of your potential purchase. If you find yourself getting blinded by emotions, you’re going to do something foolish before you can stop yourself in the moment. While you might be able to salvage a bad idea later on, you can often stop yourself just by keeping your emotions in check right now. Once you have your feelings straightened out and have a state resembling Kohlinahr about what you intend to purchase, you can actually begin the search for the best deal on it.

Be careful when you buy the latest technical gadget or iWhatever. Whether what you’re going after is a computer, an mp3 player or even a toaster oven, you need to be certain that its features and benefits will match up with your needs. If you don’t need it, save yourself a lot of pain and don’t buy it in the first place. When you buy a gadget, remember that consumer technology is going to be obsolete soon enough. Wait awhile, and then make sure you still want it that badly.

Technology is changing around us, and keeping up with the times is essential to keeping your business afloat or just communicating with friends. A few must-have tech gadgets will make business, travel, and life so much easier.

While tech gadgets may be difficult to afford, things like a prepaid card can make them more accessible. You’ll be glad you upgraded!

Smart Phone

Some refuse to move to new technology because they deem it a passing fad. Smart phones set you up to succeed in business, and also come in handy daily for things like checking directions on the go. With multiple types to choose from, find one that best fits your lifestyle. You’ll have the ability to keep track of appointments and dates with a calendar, check and send emails, create to-do lists, and keep in touch or advertise using social media at your fingertips.

iPad

The iPad transformed the way people do business and consume media. Lightweight and easy to transport, it keeps you business savvy. It connects to wifi, so you can use it anywhere. And the iPad 2 now comes with faster processing, 4G connectivity, and so much more, making it an essential business and communication tool.

Targus Premium Laptop Charger

Better than your brick, this charger is tiny, measuring in at approximately the size of a blackberry. This device consolidates your travel. It powers both a laptop and other devices from a wall socket, car, or plane. It may be a bit pricy, but it makes travel so much easier.

Credit card, prepaid card, online shopping—however you choose to get these must-have gadgets, make sure you get your hands on them.

Admit it, you want one of those slick new smartphones—you know the ones that can seemingly do everything except wash your dishes? Only problem is that there are so many different versions out there it’s a bit overwhelming. Take a few moments to review some of the most important selling points for all smartphones and you will find yourself making a choice in no time at all.

Whether you are interested in a Motorola Android or another model, consider what is important to you as the end user. Some areas to consider are:

Processor Speed

While 1 GHZ is pretty standard in today’s smartphones, you do have faster options. They will also cost you a bit more. Decide how important it is to you to have the fastest phone.

Interface

Every phone, including a Motorola Android, will have its own unique interface. Take some time to check out the various types of interfaces and which will work best for you. Remember, your interface is how you will communicate with your new Android phone, so it has to be easy to use and intuitive for you.

Upgrades

In many cases, today’s smartphones are upgradable. You may be able to add additional memory or processing speed to your phone for an additional charge. If you foresee the need to upgrade, check out available options and prices.

Buying your first Android phone can be fun, especially if you go into the process educated and ready. So take some time to do your research.

Buying a refurbished computer is a major step for some people. If they’ve only ever owned a brand new computer, this can be a serious step outside of their comfort zone. So it makes sense that they would be curious about what the actual process is for checking out a computer and making sure it works properly. A badly refurbished computer would actually be worse than no computer at all, so this is an important process.

While the specific processes used to restore a computer to like new condition can vary considerably, there are some parts to the process that are universal. The first step involves making sure every component is in place. Once that’s taken care of, the technician ensures that every part performs its function. This extends all the way from starting up and using the various drives all the way to making sure every key functions and accessing a network. While the thoroughness of the process is time consuming, its thoroughness is what ensures a successful computer when it’s done.

Once the hardware is certified, the technician then goes through and makes sure the operating system is working properly. While one can do this manually, the easiest way by far is to simply reformat the hard drive. Ultimately, this is far easier than trying to fix a software problem that could end up being intense and challenging. Technicians are often paid by the hour, so efficiency is a must. When you get a refurbished computer you might not notice things of this nature. The device feels new to you, but it’s had a lot of invisible work to get up to snuff.

Each year you see more and more gadgets flood the market. 2011 has been no different, with gadgets of all kinds pushing the boundaries of technological advancement.

Here are some of the coolest gadgets of 2011. Many of these products are available for purchase online. If you don’t have a credit card, a Visa prepaid card offers the convenience of a credit card with the security of knowing you are spending your own money.

Tablet PCs

If you haven’t heard all about tablet PCs, then you either have no interest in technology or have been living under a rock! The iPad continues to dominate the market, but competitors are quickly catching up. Blackberry, Motorola, and Acer have all thrown offerings into the ring.

Personal Gaming

Personal gaming consoles have gone sci-fi this year with the introduction of 3D graphics. Many 3D movies and television shows require the viewer to wear special 3D glasses. This isn’t the case with 3D personal gaming consoles. The technology used allows the viewer to experience it without having to wear bulky or uncomfortable glasses.

Smartphones

These phones are exactly as the title suggests: super smart and super cool. Many smartphones have all of the functionality of a personal computer, but in the convenient size of a phone. The Apple iPhone is proving time and time again to be the most popular. The HTC Desire is quickly gaining popularity, along with other brands such as Motorola and Nokia. Smartphones are becoming an integral part of life for many people, and we will no doubt see the technology evolve even further in the months to come.
